The 'Top 10'
Shelby Customer Codes Shelby considered their franchised dealers 'customers.'
Shelby assigned sequential
numeric codes to
their customers (dealers). Ford Dealer Codes Ford Motor Company also assigned codes to their dealerships. The six (6) character alphanumeric codes were a bit more useful than Shelby's simply numeric system -- but then again, they had a lot more deaerships.
The 'Zone' (alpha) changed
over the years. It might be related to the proximity of the
dealership to the District Sales Office. In '69 Shelby
Automotive used something similar to indicate the transit time
of cars from Ionia to the dealership, and the value (letter) was
adjusted when necessary. Hi-Performance Motors and Foreign Car Center were not Ford-franchised dealerships and therefore do not have FoMoCo dealer codes. The SRG created its own codes for these dealers for totaling and mapping purposes. A.O. Smith also was not a Ford dealer, and for the same reason, we've created a code for that entity.
Street addresses with a purple color are an indication that the
address is incomplete and not mappable.
For those specifically looking to help find the pieces we're missing (phone numbers, freight charges, street numbers), here's a short list of the missing bits we're still searching for. Interested to learn more details about the dealership that sold your car? Request a free SRG Dealer Report.
