1967 Shelby GT 350 and GT 500 'road car' production took place in the west hanger at 6501 Imperial Drive in Los Angeles, California.
The first 'regular production' cars were completed by Shelby American on October 19, 1966. Only two (2) cars were recorded as completed on that first day: dark green GT 350 #0003 (67200F-50003) and white GT 350 #0018 (67200F-40018). These cars were promptly shipped off to Ford in Dearborn for public relations purposes and never returned to California. #0003 was used for a PR Photo with Carroll, displayed at the Detroit International Auto Show, and was filmed for the first scene of the Shelby TV commercial with Carroll and Donald Fry outside the main entrance of Ford's North American Automotive Operations (NAAO) building.
0018 was forwarded on to Ford's Canada headquarters in Oakville, Ontario. Photos of #0018 in the parking garage at Ford's Canada HQ have been found in the January 1967 Canada Track & Traffic magazine.
