In Countries where Ford had an established corporate entity, Shelby would ship the car to the dealer, however, the actual sale would be booked through the International Ford entity (Ford of Canada, Ford of Belgium, Ford of the Philippines). This allowed the International Ford entity to collect appropriate fees and taxes from the dealer. Cars sold in these countries should have two invoices; however, SAAC would likely only have one of them in their files. 'Retail' units sold to Belgium and Switzerland were all specified with the "Export Package" and a "3.25 Limited Slip rear axle." From the paperwork we've collected and analyzed so far, it appears the earliest 'auto show' unit(s) sent to these countries were not equipped with the Limited Slip rear axle. Here's a Production Order from one of the retail units sold through Claud Dubois in Belgium:
The Production Orders for 'retail' cars sold through Performance Cars in Switzerland include a country-specific equipment package, such as "France Equpt.", "Germany Equipt.", or "Switzerland Equipt." These country-specific packages likely included mandated equipment, such as fender side-mounted turn signals for France. We're still not sure what components were included in the generic 'Export Package." Probably a KmH (metric) speedometer, mayb added reflectors? Maybe even an owner's manual in the appropriate language? See Also |
