  view data

We've discovered several Shelby GT cars who's Shelby VIN plates were misstamped.

The most common misstamps include paint color code, trim color code, and components (air-conditioning / emissions).

The following examples show other types of obvious misstamps to the Shelby VIN plate.

1967 Shelby GT 500 with misstamped VIN plate (Engine Code)

1967 Shelby GT 500 VIN plate with a misstamped engine code. This leaves is curios as to how the VIN plate stamping machine actually worked.

1967 Shelby GT 500 with misstamped VIN plate (Components Code)

1967 Shelby GT 500 VIN plate with a misstamped component code. Likely stamped as 40FF, our guess is that an owner 'massaged' the F into an R. Reason unknown...

We've also found misstamps in car's secondary Shelby VINs (located on the passenger apron).

Reviewing The Data

A 'Y' in the V.Pic? column is an indication that the SRG has a photograph of the misstamped Shelby VIN plate. The absense of a "Y" in the corresponding cell, indicates this information was reported to us or obtained elsewhere.
