The observed pattern is that cars completed by Shelby American on or after April 27, 1967, received an added Z prefix on their VIN plates. Company Cars ("CC") and H.O.R. cars could be exceptions, as they served a non-retail purpose. It is our theory that cars on this list should have a Z prefix, but perhaps due to human error, they were missed. There could be another explanation for some, such as an
earlier completion date than shown on the car's Production Order
(i.e. 2x POs) or that there is another date that affects the "Z"
VIN, such as DPR, Invoiced, or Shipped dates. Reviewing The Data If there's not a "Y" in the "V.Pic?" column for a car, it
means the SRG does not have a photograph of the VIN plate to
verify, and the information was reported by another source. See Also |
