Special Vehicle Order and Parts Specification (SVO-PS)

FoMoCo Form # KBM (revised 7-63) - Portrait orientation

This document was created after the Domestic Special Order (DSO) was received, accepted and approved by the Special Vehicle Team (SVT).

Think of the SVO as an engineering document for the assembly plant -- an 'expanded' version of the DSO where all assembly numbers are broken out into specific part numbers of each item added to, changed from, or deleted from the stock Mustang platform to become a 'knockdown' Shelby G.T. unit.

These have often been referred to as "add/delete" sheets, and sometimes mistakenly as "build sheets."

The following image is the first page of a multi-page SVO [84]2549:

Decent. E.A. / Cent. E.A. = Decentralized / Centralized Equipment Availability

Decentralized might mean that parts/assemblies would be completed and ready for shipment from the various manufacturing facilities (i.e. engine plant). Centralized, since it occurs later, could mean when it would be at the actual assembly plant (e.g. San Jose).

The transition from Ordering District (OD) 84 to OD 89 appears to take place between 4/26/67 and 5/1/67. Coincidentally, this is right about the same time as the 'Z' prefix started getting added to the VIN plates at Shelby American (cars completed by Shelby on and after 4/27/67).

If the number of pages and/or date cells are not filled in, it means we have not found a copy of that particular SVO.

If the OD (84 / 89) is colored purple, it indicates an assumption (based on the discovered serialized dates of cars associated with the order).

Excerpt from a SVO clearly showing that "428-8V Special Interceptor" was Ford's official name for the powerplant in a '67 Shelby GT 500.
