Customer X-Codes Assigned by SAI

We've discovered production orders that have a circled X-code to the left of the dealer's name. These X-codes have been found on cars sold later in production, starting in April 1967.

Could (X03) apply to all cars sold into Canada (via Ford of Canada)?

Could the (X50) designation be for exported cars? Or might it designate a Ford Home Office Reserve (HOR) special-purpose vehicle?

1967 Shelby GT Production Order with X50 Designation

All GT sales to non-Shelby-franchised dealers were sold through the Ford Home Office, and a corresponding (X99) code appears to the left of the NSF dealer's name on the car's Production Order. We are farily certain that X99 is the code assigned to Ford Motor Company.

Why X99? 'X' seems to be the alpha assigned to special purposes, and if there were 98 Shelby-franchised dealers, then 99 would be next increment.  Also, Ford's code for Shelby American was 'X999'.

The earliest X codes found on Production Orders are for cars invoiced/shipped in April 1967. Could this be another change related to the Ford takeover of Shelby American? Could the alphanumeric system be Ford's improved system?
